Surf Programs for Students During School Holidays

SEA Australia’s Kid’s Learn to Surf holiday program offer a dynamic and fun-filled way for children aged 7 and over to dive into surfing and ocean safety during school breaks. Based at Manly Beach in Sydney, these programs cater to both beginners and more experienced young surfers. Each session emphasises surf skills and vital rip education, with safe supervised lessons right on the beach and in the water.

Please note, holiday programs wont be available until summer 2026/27 due to unforseen circumstances, we apologise for the inconvenience.

Parents can organise for their kids to attend SEA Australia’s school holiday programs by simply enquiring via the form on this page or on Book a Program.

All programs come with full safety gear – including foam surfboards, leg ropes, wetsuits or thermal vests if needed, and high‑visibility sun vests for easy identification. The site itself is chosen for its safe south corner and shielded flat-water zone in Cabbage Tree Bay, allowing flexibility if surf conditions become unsafe. SEA Australia holds the exclusive licence to run these programs on Manly Beach’s south end.

Students may also choose or be required to complete the School Surf Survival Award, a comprehensive three‑hour course that equips them with survival and self-rescue skills, CPR basics, understanding of surf zones and rip identification. This award is often a prerequisite for students participating in school‐based surf sport programs and can be undertaken in the school holiday period if preferred.

The combination of practical sea time and optional in-school theory lessons makes these programs both educational and empowering for children, aligning with SEA Australia’s mission of surf safety and confidence building across school holidays.

School Surf Survival Award

A 3 hour practical course - a Surf Survival Award program like this one provided by SEA, is a prerequisite for students intending to participate in surfing as a school sport. SEA will provide suitable training to bring the students up to a sufficient level.

This was a wonderful experience, all the instructors(Nate, Oscar and Archie) all helped me on my way to be able to surf, catch waves and float. Although the rashies were a little wet, I will hundred percent revisit. If you want your kids to have the best experience of their life I recommend sending them here. They will supply you with red rashies and lots of fun!!!

I cannot rave about my lessons enough. In two lessons I have learned so much about swimming in the ocean. I can spot a rip, I now see rips in a whole new light. Ive learned to body surf. Reduce the amount of energy Im using when I swim. How NOT to panic. I am so incredibly nervous about swimming in the ocean. I've never gone past my hips when Im in the water at the beach, and now I'm swimming out to the back with all the cool kids. I still have a lot to learn, and practice, but its the best lesson. Ask for Darryl, sign up for program two "surf swimming". Honestly Darryl is an incredible teacher!!!!!! You will feel very comfortable with him, he really knows his stuff. All people should do this class!
