How to catch a wave on a surf board

Its all about standing up right? I don't think so.

Its all about catching the wave. So, this is part you have to get right to really begin a lifelong love of surfing.

The knowledge of the ocean and the waves is important, as are the rips and sandbanks.

Being able to use the variations in the wave area and position yourself correctly is the first step.

Once you choose your wave, ensure you commit. No one likes to be dumped and hesitating is a sure fire way of face planting in the ocean.

Being in control of the wave by paddling into the wave then allows you to be positioned correctly on your board and gives you enough time to place your hands at the side of the board so you can avoid a nose dive.

Master this skill and then standing is a mere formality.
